Business Improvement District is approved and Cardiff’s fanzone moves to the Principality Stadium

Welcome to my weekly Leader’s Vlog.

My vlog this week comes from Cardiff’s Central Square the scene of a major regeneration project to welcome the news that businesses in the city centre have backed the creation of Cardiff’s first-ever Business Improvement District (BID). It means that over £7.5million will be invested in marketing and promoting the city centre by local businesses over the next 5 years. It’s a big vote of confidence in Cardiff by the business community and the Council is now looking forward to working with the BID team as they move forward and develop a business plan over the next 5 years.

We’re just over a day away from one of the biggest games in Welsh sport. Wales taking on Portugal in the semi-finals of Euro2016 in France. In order to provide a bigger venue the Council has been working with partners to move the Cardiff fanzone from Bute Park to the Principality Stadium in the heart of the city. Earlier today over 20,000 tickets were allocated for that event in just a couple of hours. Unprecedented demand but it’s great to see the support that fans from right across Cardiff and indeed Wales are giving the national team. I am sure people will be packing out bars and restaurants right across Wales to cheer the team on. Good luck Wales!
