Central Square will become a high quality gateway to Cardiff

Welcome to another of my Leader’s Vlog updates which will keep you abreast of some of the positive things we’re doing as a Council.

Earlier today I visited the construction site at Central Square in the heart of Cardiff City Centre as final preparations were being made for the laying of the concrete foundations for BBC Wales’ new headquarters building.

The huge development on the site of what used to be our Central Bus Station is part of a wider scheme of over a million square foot of new office and retail developments in this area.

Renowned architectural practice, Foster & Partners have designed several buildings in the vicinity and in due course our new central bus and cycle interchange will be developed on the site which will link with a redeveloped Cardiff Central Rail Station.

Around 10,000 people will work in this area when all the construction work is complete and it will become a very high quality gateway to both Cardiff and the wider Cardiff Capital Region.
