Cardiff is up for recycling challenge

Welcome to this week’s Leader’s Vlog – a weekly update on some of our activities as we strive to make Cardiff Europe’s most liveable capital city.

Earlier this week I visited our recycling facility at Lamby Way in Rumney as we had just released the great news that the Council is on target to meet our recycling target for 2015/16. The figures released still need to be verified but provisionally they show an increase of five percent which would take us just over our annual target of 58%.

Credit must go to residents and local businesses from across the city who have responded so well to our campaign messages about the need to take more of our waste from landfill and send it to recycling centres so that it can be reused in the future.

There’s still a lot of hard work ahead of us. We have a very tough Welsh Government target of 70% recycling by 2025 – but as these figures show Cardiff is up for the recycling challenge ahead!
